A BEDRIDDEN man who was nursed by his wife for ten years died after a fall, an inquest heard.
The inquest into the death of Harold Tate, 84, from Cumberland Street, Darlington, was held at Bishop Auckland Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Mr Tate's wife, Mabel, nursed her husband after he suffered a stroke ten years earlier, which left him bedridden and unable to look after himself.
On Saturday, May 26, Mrs Tate rested her husband on a commode while she went to make his bed, but he fell and fractured his hip.
He was too ill for surgeons to operate and died on Monday, June 4. Darlington and South Durham Coroner Kenneth Howe recorded a verdict of accidental death.
