HANDBAG by Gucci, shoes by Prada, and . . . computer accessories by Lindy.

The smartest socialites in London may be sporting Lindy peripherals this summer, after the Teesside technology company revealed that its products are to be sold in Harrods for the first time.

The Capital Sound and Vision section in Harrods' world-famous department store in the West End has agreed to stock a range of products including Lindy's chrome-plated mouse, the Cromo Mouse.

Darren Casey, Lindy's managing director, said: "Traditionally, we have been better known for our cables than for our labels. But seriously, the worlds of design and technology are no longer as far apart as they once were, as demonstrated by the revolution in computer design that produced Apple's hugely-popular iMac.

"More importantly, Harrods is the latest in a line of high-profile retail customers to have chosen to take Lindy products on board."

The Lindy peripherals on sale will include a range of hubs, cables and networking accessories, and the store will also stock the company's new range of dual-wheel mice, including its first radio frequency mouse.

Mr Casey said: "Of all the products available in Harrods, the mice will of course be very popular. But the fact that so many networking accessories are being sold in the store also demonstrates clearly that technology is no longer the preserve of the computer specialist, but is something that is essential to every professional's home and office.

"Most of the products available in Harrods allow people to connect their laptops to networks, and to share peripherals like printers and scanners.

"This goes to show how universal the world of technology has become in the past few years, and we expect our sales to high street retailers to continue to flourish."
