South West Durham Association - The last unbeaten record in the league went when Barnard Castle Glaxo travelled to Darlington East End and were whitewashed.

This meant that the top spot in the Second Division is now shared between Glaxo, Shildon Elm Road and Northgate. Even these three are threatened by Ferryhill, who are only two points adrift but have a match in hand.

Hopetown, First Division leaders, managed a draw at second placed Darlington Snooker Club A to remain six points clear. Albert Hill remain equal second with the Snooker Club, while Darlington Cricket Club, with a match in hand, Folly's and Harrowgate Hill are a further three points adrift.

Results: Bishop Auckland Cricket Club 2, Old Shildon 2; Darlington Snooker Club A 2, Hopetown 2; Barnard Castle Folly's 2, Albert Hill 2; Harrowgate Hill 3, Darlington Cricket Club 1; Shildon Elm Road 2, Northgate 2; Bishop Auckland Gents B 1, Darlington Snooker Club B 3; Ferryhill 3, Bishop Auckland Gents A 1; Darlington East End 4, Barnard Castle Glaxo 0.

Wheatley Hill A held on to their four points lead at the top of the First Division after they whitewashed the visiting third placed Fishburn A. The successful Hill players were Alan Hall, Ronnie Peacock, Dennis Clish, Dave Walker and Jack Wright. This reversal for Fishburn cost them their third spot in the table.

Old Shildon maintained the pace set by Wheatley Hill A with a home maximum victory over Wheatley Hill B, who slipped back to the foot of the table. The Shildon winners were Frank Nicholson, Michael Pratt with a 65 break, Billy Goggins with 37 and 35 breaks, Stephen Bennett with a 39 break and Charlie Blake with a 30 break.

Newton Aycliffe moved up above Fishburn A by virtue of their win at Stanley Central for the loss of only one point. Jim Dufton took the only point for the Central while Ronnie Hall, John Briddick, Steve Nelson and Michael Hewitt saw the visitors safely through.

Spennymoor A dropped the first two points on their visit to Shotton Palms, when John Armstrong and Paul Hickman won. However Dennis Dodd and John Wilson squared the match and the Moors went to victory when Paul Biddle beat Barry hall in the decider. This win lifts the Moors off the foot of the table.

Second Division leaders, Sherburn Village crashed at home to Meadowfield when only Scott Mallaburn took a point for them. The visiting winners were John Jackson, Stephen Hughes, Craig Hughes and Norman Smith. The Sherburn lead at the top is now down to just a single point.

Ferryhill missed the opportunity to go to the top of the Second Division when they were beaten in the decider at Langley Park. Ray Coates put the Park ahead with Ian Roddam levelling. Mark Wilson then put the visitors ahead only to see Kevin Keers square the match. In the decider the Park's Robert Roche beat Bernie Jones. This win pushed Langley Park just a point behind Ferryhill.

Durham City went deeper in trouble at the foot of the Second Division when they went down in the decider to fellow strugglers, Crook Belle Vue. Ken Rider put the visitors ahead but then Michael Pratt and Gary Ward edged Durham ahead. Derek Potts pulled Crook level before Harold Lomax took them to victory in the decider with a win over Brian Dunn. This defeat leaves Durham City five points behind Newhouse B, who had three points deducted for a breach of rules when cancelling a match.

Spennymoor B opened out a six points gap at the top of the Third Division when they only dropped one point to the visiting Hunwick, who had Trevor Lomax as their only winner. The Moors points came from Wayne Parry, Micky Anderson, Alan Rowell and Kurt McCormack.

West Auckland lost the chance to move clear in second place when they went down by the odd point at Fishburn B, who had wins from Alan Wilson, George Whitelock and Karl Whitfield. West's points came from David Geraty and Andrew Dent.

Leeholme A hit their highest position since joining the League when they moved up to share second place following their home win over Sacriston, who had Alan Richardson as their only winner. Leeholme's points came from Barry Shaw, Lawrence Jones, Ian North and Ray Gill.

In the First Division, Willington are missing the inspiration and points from Paul Atkinson. When they entertained Witton Gilbert they failed to score a point as John Rooney junior, Ian Kerr, Ian Renwick, Ray Coatman and John Rooney senior.

The battle to avoid the wooden spoon at the foot of the Third Division saw Tow Law fail to break their duck for the season when they went down by the odd point to the visiting Leeholme B. Gary Golightly, Adrian Prest and Stephen Bainbridge moved the visitors into a winning position, while Charlie Donaghy and Doug Watson won for the Lawyers to make the score more respectable.

Results: Old Shildon 5, Wheatley Hill B 0; Sherburn Village 1, Meadowfield 4; Leeholme A 4, Sacriston 1; Tow Law 2, Leeholme B 3; Durham City 2, Crook Belle Vue 3; Stanley Central 1, Newton Aycliffe 4; Langley Park 3, Ferryhill 2; Spennymoor B 4, Hunwick 1; Willington 0, Witton Gilbert 5; Fishburn B 3, West Auckland 2; Shotton Palms 2, Spennymoor B 3; Wheatley Hill A 5, Fishburn A 0. Newhouse A v Newhouse B not played (Newhouse B deducted three points).
