Bedale Club Championship Warrior Darwin Trophy - Following this 36 hole competition which resulted in a tie between Kevin Ward and Andrew Gatenby, a further 18 holes were played to decide the Club Champion.

This was won by Kevin Ward. The Kettlewell Trophy for the best nett score was won by Andrew Gatenby.

Seniors Open Day

A full field for this competition, which received entries from far and wide in the North of England, resulted in a very close scoring, with a countback being required to identify all the positions, bar one.

Results (Stableford competition): 48 points Barker and McBride (South Leeds) and Moon and Bowden, 47 Cunliffe and Rawcliffe (Preston), 46 Powers and Skinner (Bedale), Clark and Ramsden (Wetherby), Ingham and Carlisle (West Bowling), 45 Carr and Alexander (Bedale), Exelby and Mitchinson (Bedale), Heaviside and Lough (Eaglescliffe and Richmond) and Charman and Fenwick (Saltburn).

The best gross with 34 points was won by Smith and Roche (Wilton).

Ladies July Extra Medal

With a fine day and the course playing well, Mavis Burton returned the best gross score of 82, but this only left her in second position in this nett competition.

Heart Foundation Mixed Fours

A calm and sunny evening for this month's foursomes which raised £130 for the Heart Foundation and with exceptionally close scoring.

Results: 64.5 nett Val Abbey and Tony Stenson also Pauline Morris and Bill Barclay, 65 nett George Hewison and Barbara Webster. With a score of 78 Julie Standen and Julian Beer won the Best Gross.

Juniors

Having lost all their top Juniors in the last 12 months an age has taken its toll, Bedale's Junior Coordinator Ian Johnson has worked on a young and slightly inexperienced squad, and has been rewarded with a firm foundation for the future in the hope that the present team will be able to play for three or four years.

Harrogate Inter-Club Junior League

A double-headed weekend with matches at home against Knaresborough, and away against Oakdale, resulted in defeats only with Craig Brown claiming a half in his match against Knaresborough.

Another double-headed weekend completed Bedale Junior's season in this competition and finished on a high note.

Bedale v Otley

Matthew Johnson won four and three, Craig Brown won two and one, Craig Johnston won four and three, Darren Brown lost three and two.

Bedale v Pannal

Matthew Johnson lost five and four, Craig Brown lost one and two, James Patterson won five and three, Craig Johnston won five and three.

Junior Championship

A beautiful day for this top Juniors Competition, played at Pannal Golf Club on Monday. While good golf was the highlight of the day, an exceptional score by 14-year-old Ben Hacker, a new junior from Oakdale, who in his first year took Pannal Golf Club apart with an exceptional score of 56, playing off a handicap of 31.

For his last year as a Junior, Harrogate's Joe Buckley was again the winner with a gross 72, followed closely by Martin Padgett from Pannal with a 74. Unfortunately, once again there were no girl golfers in the competition.
