PROPOSALS for a housing development at a former quarry site are expected to be given the go-ahead by councillors.
Wilcon Homes has submitted plans to Harrogate Borough Council for seven houses at the Doublegates Quarry residential development, in Clotherholme Road, Ripon.
The site was previously earmarked for a shopping centre, but since no developers have come forward with retail plans, planning officials say the area can be used for residential purposes.
A report due to be considered by the council's planning committee says: "It has been demonstrated that there is no demand to develop this site for a local shopping centre and, as such, residential development is acceptable."
