BUSINESS advisors hit the right note with a piano company.

Washington business Key Pianos has grown since it asked Business Link Tyne and Wear for advice on countering a drop in sales.

The company has been appointed as regional dealer for Steinway pianos - one of only seven in the country.

Managing partner Jonathan Mytton said: "With held from Business Link Tyne and Wear and John McRae, a marketing consultant, we developed a number of marketing initiatives including a quarterly newsletter.

"This has been responsible for almost all of our success.

"In the year to May 2001, sales have more than doubled and now, as we are up to newsletter number seven, sales are continuing to increase as is circulation, which is now at around 3,000.''

Business Link advisor Harold Gartside said: "To ask for help is sometimes the hardest step for some businesses to take, but such a move can make, rather than break a business.'
