A TIME capsule has been buried to herald the future of a new school.
Businessman Sir Tom Cowie was the special guest at Thursday's ceremony to bury the capsule at the Community School, at Hylton Castle, Sunderland.
Formerly known as Felstead School, the site, specialising in vocational and educational training for 12 to 19-year-olds, will open in September.
Items representing Sunderland this year, were enclosed in the capsule, including a copy of The Northern Echo, a national newspaper, class lists, photographs and a prospectus.
