Worthington CIU Winter League - Wingate produced their best display of the season to beat the visiting Second Division leaders, Langley Park and move them down into second place.

The home side have had troubles in establishing a settled team but showed no signs of problems as they only dropped one point when Peter Morgan won for the Park. The home winners were Jimmy Mason, Steve Allen, Dave Carter and Dave Hammond.

This defeat for Langley Park allowed Crowtrees to take over the top spot in the Second Division despite losing to the visiting Newhouse, who were never ahead until the decider. Keith McLauchlan put the home side ahead with Jimmy Hassen levelling. Phil Whitfield restored the home lead only to see Ian Dinsdale level. In the decider Newhouse's John Maddox beat Sean Johnston.

In the First Division Old Shildon stretched their lead at the top to six points when they beat the visiting Shotton Palms. The Palms went ahead through John Armstrong but that was the only point they scored as Stephen Bennett, Jossie Aldworth, Charlie Blake and Billy Goggins clinched the home victory.

Fishburn A jumped up to share second place in the First Division after only dropping one point on their visit to Newton Aycliffe, who had Ritchie Young as their only point scorer. The visitors had wins from Brian Quest, John Carter, Peter Davison and John Griffin, who had a 31 break.

Spennymoor A share the second spot in the top division with Fishburn A after recovering to beat the visiting Willington by the odd point. Arthur Goldsborough put Willington ahead with John Wilson replying. Tom Parkin restored the visitors' lead with Ronnie Bateman levelling. In the decider the Moors Paul Biddle beat Stan Bennett.

West Auckland won the top of the table clash against the visiting Bearpark by the odd point to move five points clear at the top of the Third Division. The home side had wins from Paul Vickers, Andrew Sugden and David Geraty whilst Shaun Easter and David Jackson scored for Bearpark.

Sacriston slipped four points behind Bearpark when they went down by the odd point at home to Coundon despite going two up through Steven Bradley and Mark Brown. However John Paul Wringe and Frank Nicholson squared the match and Coundon went to victory when Graham Golbourn beat Gary Barton in the decider.

Durham City moved up to share the third place in the Third Division after they only dropped one point at Leeholme B, who had John Taylor as their only winner. Barry Stoddart, Eric Wright, Gary Ward and Michael Pratt won for Durham City.

Meadowfield moved up to share the second spot in the Second Division after they took four points from their hosts at Belmont. The home side's lone winner was Steven Armstrong, whilst Stephen Hughes, Norman Smith, Paul batey and John Jackson guided Meadowfield to victory.

Spennymoor B also moved up to share the second place in the Second Division following their odd point victory at Hunwick A. The home side had wins from Des Mason and Dave Rusby, whilst the Moors edged through with wins from Karl McCormack, Wayne Parry and Kurt McCormack.

Fishburn B slipped down the Third Division despite beating the visiting Leeholme A by the odd point. Alan Rutter and Dave Wilson won for Fishburn with Anthony Foster and Barry Shaw levelling. In the decider Fishburn's George Whitelock beat David Fletcher.

Barry Fleming and Tom Ward put Hunwick B two ahead at Crook Belle Vue but the home side levelled with wins from Derek Potts and Ken Rider. The home side then clinched a good win when John Warriner beat John Bate in the decider.

Stanley Central were never headed when they visited Sherburn Village. Jim Dufton put the Central ahead with Alan Greener equalising. Jimmy Atkinson restored the visitors' lead with Scott Mallaburn again levelling. In the decider, Stanley's Walter Cornell beat John Bower.

Glyn Toas was the star of Ferryhill's home game against Brandon when he took the home side's only point. The visiting winners were Graham Jackson, Colin Goodrick, Kevin Sample with a 31 break and John Hall.

Cockton Hill went down in the decider at home to Wheatley Hill A, who went ahead through Dave Walker. Kevin Mordica levelled the match only to see Dennis Clish put the Hill ahead again. George Chapman equalised but then the visiting Dean Bryden beat Paul Weighill in the decider.

Crook League

Crook Mill House made up their two outstanding fixtures in the First Division and were beaten in both. In their home game against Crook Royal Sun they only managed to score two points but went one better when they visited Crook Olde Horse Shoe B.

The Horse Shoe B had singles wins from Lee Scott, Louie Holmes, Dave Leighton and Dave Walker whilst the Mill replied through Mark Nichols and Ian Bibby. The Mill improved their score by taking the doubles when Nichols and Bibby beat Peter Clement and Rob Grayson.

Crook Olde Horse Shoe A lead the First Division by 14 points from Crook Travellers Rest B, who are one ahead of Crook Belle Vue Club. Crook Spitfire Club lead the Second Division by 13 points from Crook White Swan, who are just one ahead of Crook Golden Fleece.
