TWO company directors from Teesside have been disqualified for non-payment of taxes.

Steven Irving Paling, 39, from Belmont Avenue, Billingham, was disqualified from acting as a company director for five years as a result of his unfit conduct as a director of Surveillance Technology Electrical Limited (STEL) and Surveillance Technology Teesside Limited (STTL).

His co-director, John George Brown, 36, from Esk Road, Stockton, was disqualified for two years, having acted as a director at both companies.

Middlesbrough County Court heard that STTL traded between 1992 and October 1996 in the installation of closed circuit television systems from premises in Normanby Road, Middlesbrough.

It was wound up by the court on April 8, 1997, with estimated debts of £62, 257, the majority being unpaid PAYE, National Insurance contributions and VAT.

STEL traded between February 1995 and December 1997 in the installation of security systems from the same address. It was wound up by the court on November 17, 1998, with estimated debts of £45,535, the majority of which was owed to Crown agencies.

The two directors were found responsible for causing STTL to retain monies due to the Crown, amounting to £29,632 between 1993 and October 1996.

In relation to STEL they were found responsible for failing to submit returns and payments to the Crown and failing to account to the Inland Revenue for PAYE and NI contributions to the value of £36,488 during the three years of trading.
