MORE than 200 youngsters from east Cleveland braved the elements to take part in the annual Redcar and Cleveland Schools Cross Country Championships.
The event was held at Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough, last week. The top ten runners from each category will go forward to the county championships on Friday, January 18, also at Laurence Jackson.
Individual winners were: year seven girls, Elisha Fry, Laurence Jackson; year seven boys, David Lamb, Laurence Jackson; year eight and nine girls, Zoe Verrill, Nunthorpe; year eight and nine boys, Scott Dixon, Laurence Jackson; year ten and 11 girls, Sam Hart, Rye Hills; year ten and 11 boys, Stephen Thompson, Sacred Heart.
