Darlington and District League - DTTC B began the second half of the season with an impressive 7-3 victory over previously unbeaten, leaders, Henknowle Community Centre.
The B team comprising Andrew Leighton, David Meads and Mark Simpson, are the only team to come close to Henknowle with a 5-5 draw during the first week of the season. This week's display demonstrates how the young team are developing with both Leighton and Meads scoring hat-tricks.
The victory moves DTTC B into second place in the table only five points behind Henknowle, but having played one game more. At this point in the season DTTC B appear to be the only side who could seriously damage Henknowle's chance of the championship.
DTTC D also showed improved form to draw 5-5 with Railway A following a 9-1 defeat at the beginning of the season. Jonathon de Wind scored a hat-trick culminating in a five end battle, coming from 2-1 down to beat Tony Langley. This result pushes DTTC B into fifth place the Division One table.
In Division Two, Railway C continue their dominance at the top of the table with a 9-1 victory over DSRM B with hat-tricks for Sylvia Barraclough and Ron Brook.
Railway B moved into second place with an 8-2 victory over DSRM C. Only 15 points now separate the two Railway sides with the top side having played one game extra.
The closest match in the Week's Handicap Cup was between Fire Station and Auckland Park with both sides playing off scratch. Fire Station took an early lead and continued to dominate until Barry Deacon beat Harry Sumner in the fifth game to give Auckland Park an eight point advantage. Even Brian Ellenor's 21-, 21-13 defeat of Deacon in the last game was not enough to achieve victory. Auckland Park won by eight points and go on to meet DSRM C in the next round.
The individual aggregate table is very competitive this season with Lee Orton (Henknowle), David Meads (DTTC B) and Sedgefield's Darren Young all on 21 points followed closely by Tony Langley on 19 (Railway A).
Division One: Henknowle 66 points, DTTC B 61, Sedgefield 55, Railway A 53, DTTC D 43, DTTC A 40, Auckland Park 36, Fire Station 33, DSRM A 26, DTTC C 25.
