A MAN has been charged with assault after the daughter of former Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson was hurt in an incident in Durha City.
Claire Louise Robson, 21, who lives in the Chester-le-Street area, suffered a gash to the head and needed stitches after the incident outside Paddy's Taxis.
She had been out with friends and was on her way home when she was hurt just after midnight on Saturday. She was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, where she was kept overnight, and has since sought advice from a plastic surgeon.
Miss Robson's grandmother Maureen Robson said: "It's been a shock to the family, but she's a strong girl and she'll bounce back."
On Tuesday, a 20-year-old man, believed to live locally, was charged with assault in relation to the attack. He will appear before Chester-le-Street magistrates next Thursday.
