POLICE are warning football fans to take extra care on Saturday when York City compete in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

A capacity crowd is expected at Bootham Crescent for City's match with Premiership big-spenders Fulham.

Chief Superintendent John Lacy, of York police, said: "Parking will not be easy on Saturday, not least because the capacity of the popular Union Terrace car park has been halved. It will also take a lot of time for 9,000 people to get through the turnstiles."

About 2,000 fans were still outside the ground when City's third round match against Grimsby Town kicked off.
