POLICE are appealing for the victim of an attempted bag snatch to come forward.
Five men chased and caught a thief who grabbed a woman's handbag as she loaded shopping into her car yesterday.
The men recovered the bag and handed it back to the victim. Grateful to have her property returned, she promptly drove off.
Cleveland Police want to speak to the shopper, following the arrest of the thief.
The incident happened outside Coulby Newham shops, near Middlesbrough, and is being linked to a similar bag snatch from the same precinct on Tuesday.
In the first attack the handbag of an 80-year-old Alzheimer's sufferer was stolen together with £200 and her medication.
Thursday's victim was driving a red Corsa or Micra.
The woman is asked to contact Detective Constable Mike O'Connor on (01642) 303126.
