YOUNG achievers were recognised with awards at a special celebration last night.
A total of 120 youngsters received awards at the event, hosted by Metro Radio presenter Brian Moore, at the Stadium of Light, in Sunderland.
The ninth Young Achievers Award Scheme was organised by Sunderland Youth Service, supported by a number of the city's businesses. This year it received a record number of nominations in the categories of music, drama and art, personal achievement, sport, service to the community and, for the first time, young carer.
The event was attended by about 350 of the award winners' friends and relatives, as well as city councillors
