A COUPLE who have read The Northern Echo every day since they were married celebrate their golden wedding anniversary today.
Ted and Barbara Neave, who were introduced by a mutual friend, married at Darlington Register Office in 1952.
Mrs Neave, who is from Middleham, in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, worked as an operator on a telephone exchange before her retirement.
Mr Neave worked as a liaison engineer for Thorn.
The couple, who live in Edgecombe Drive, Darlington, say their marriage has been a success because of mutual respect, a little bit of give and take, and constant love for each other.
The couple, who have a daughter, Caroline, who lives in Edinburgh, are planning to celebrate their anniversary with a party.
