MIDDLESBROUGH and Tottenham are in the hunt for Senegal World Cup star Henri Camara.

Sources close to the 25-year-old striker have confirmed that his club, top-flight French side Sedan, have accepted a £4.5m offer from the Premiership.

Boro, Spurs and an unnamed rival have all declared an interest in Camara, who scored both goals in Senegal's World Cup win over Sweden.

Camara is set to be the next Senegalese star to capitalise on his nation's sensational Far-East campaign, which saw them beat then-world champions France in the opening game of the tournament and progress to the quarter-finals.

El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao are Liverpool bound, while Aliou Cisse is a target for newly-promoted Birmingham.

Everton, who could be interested in Paul Ince following his departure from Boro yesterday, are close to agreeing a deal for Paris St. Germain midfielder Edouard Cisse.

The 24-year-old Frenchman was the subject of an enquiry from Boro, who were keen to take him on loan, and also attracted interest from Bolton.

But he looks to be heading for Goodison in an exchange deal involving Ghanaian Alex Nyarko, who has been on loan with PSG.

Boro boss Steve McClaren, linked with moves for Owen Hargreaves and George Boateng, is in urgent need of new midfield blood after confirmation that skipper Ince has left Teesside on a Bosman free.

Boro offered the 34-year-old former England international a new two-year contract.

But the club said yesterday that he had turned it down "due to the travel involved from his family home in the North-West''.

It is understood that Ince, a target for Italian Serie A side Brescia, was also unhappy that Boro were unable to accommodate him in a player-coach role.

Ince was signed by former boss Bryan Robson from Liverpool for £1m and gave Boro three years' sterling service.

McClaren admitted: "In an ideal world, we'd have liked Paul to stay. He was terrific for me last season and gave excellent service to the club.

"However, we understand the reasons behind his decision and wish him well in whatever he decides to do next."

Ince, who played 106 games for Boro and scored nine goals, said: "I would like to thank the Middlesbrough fans for all their fantastic support during my three years as captain of the club."

England centre-back Gareth Southgate will take the armband for Boro in the new season.
