A TEAM from the North-East took the war on drugs to the Home Office yesterday.
Dari Taylor, MP for Stockton South, joined a group of anti-drugs workers for a meeting with Home Office Minister Bob Ainsworth.
The aim of the meeting was to make the minister aware of the scale of the drug problem in Stockton, and to suggest measures to help control and reduce addiction, to support the families of drug users, and to help cut crime.
Mrs Taylor has become increasingly concerned about the situation and has tabled a Parliamentary Question asking what the Home Office is doing to break the link between drugs and crime in the North-East.
Mr Ainsworth highlighted a number of new initiatives being undertaken, such as drug treatment and testing orders, arrest referrals and Government-back-ed support groups.
Mrs Taylor arranged the meeting at the request of Tina Williams, of the Stockton group, Parents Against Narcotics in the Community (Panic).
