IT's always worth taking notice when the smaller trainers start to hit winning form.

So Malton handler John Wainwright, who had winners at two of the Yorkshire courses last Friday, can be on the mark again with Flying Tackle in the Fangfoss Five Furlongs Handicap at Beverley this afternoon.

The four-year-old has been running consistently well without winning but, on several occasions this term, he hasn't been done any favours by the draw.

This was certainly the case at Hamilton last Friday, where a high draw is essential, and he was anything but disgraced behind Tom Tun from his single figure berth.

However, he's done much better this time with the draw - his stall 17 berth at this course looks a very advantageous one.

His usual visor is replaced with the first time blinkers and he's taken to beat Tuscan Flyer, drawn 15, who is having his first run for Robin Bastiman.

Tim Easterby's horses have been in cracking form and his Freya's Dream looks another likely sort for the Great Habton handler in the Tote Exacta Showcase Handicap over the extended seven furlongs.

The filly turned in her best effort to date at Doncaster last time when beating subsequent winner Bint Royal in very good style and she can defy a 7lb rise in the weights.

Mick Easterby's Lago has good prospects in the 117th Year Of The Watt Memorial Handicap over two miles but narrow preference is for Spa Lane.

This nine-year-old has been in good form of late and he's a bit better than the bare form of his last run suggests as he took a good hold, made his challenge wide and was short of room in the closing stages.

Stuart Williams is a man back among the winners after a very quiet start to the year and his Concer Eto makes a fair bit of appeal in the Old Gravel Pits Allerthorpe Apprentice Handicap over the extended mile.

The gelding handles easy ground well enough and a reproduction of his latest Brighton run over a bit further should ensure he goes close in this modest affair from his favourable draw.

Platinum Duke has also been favoured by the draw and he should give a good account in the Macmillan Nurses Claimer over seven furlongs.

At Brighton a chance is taken with Nick Littmoden's Just Wiz in the Ron Wilson - Just The Ticket Handicap over a mile and a quarter.

Although his best form is on sand, he wasn't at all disgraced when not getting a clear run after a five month break last time and he's well capable of going close for his in-form yard in this ordinary contest.
