CARRYING the Queen's Golden Jubilee baton on its tour of Britain was a real family affair last week.

Romanby residents Jeff and Rosemary Kidd and their daughters, Caroline and Fiona, all did their bit for the Commonwealth Games as the baton headed south.

Mrs Kidd proudly took it through Northallerton, while her husband did his run in the nearby village of Ainderby Steeple.

Fourteen-year-old Caroline was the representative in Huby and her 17-year-old sister Fiona in Leeds.

Mrs Kidd said: "We wanted to do something special to celebrate the Jubilee so we volunteered to do this baton running. We feel very honoured to be among so many people from all walks of life who are doing this."

Thirsk councillor Jan Marshall took the baton through her home town.
