A SHOP redevelopment due to be unveiled on Friday will allow visitors to browse through the latest bestsellers while they enjoy a coffee.

Ottakars bookshop in Darlington's Cornmill Centre will reopen after the refurbishment, now featuring a Costa coffee shop.

The books and coffee combination has proved successful for Costa, which has 21 shops within Ottakars outlets, seven in Waterstones and two in WH Smith stores.

Costa managing director Mike Tye said: "It's now more than four years since we opened our first bookstore concession in Ottakars, and we're delighted to start a new chapter in Darlington."

The store has created five jobs and will be managed by 25-year-old Orlanda Cooper.
