On Sunday Romanby held its annual Les Craven Memorial Men's Open sponsored by Romanby Golf Course.

This year there was a record number of entries in the nett competition which was held in pleasant weather conditions. Jeff Purdy who won the gross competition also broke the course record.

Thursday saw the Ladies Open Four Ball Better Ball Competition, sponsored by de Vries Honda, which also had a record number of entries. The weather was glorious for this competition.

Another popular event in the club's calendar which is always booked up well in advance and played as a Stableford competition again with prizes going down to tenth place and card countbacks being required.

Ladies

Harrogate Union Silver Division

Played at Oakdale golf club this top union ladies team and individual competition found Gillian Petrie continuing her good golfing season finishing as runner-up to Sara Garbutt who plays to a handicap of plus one. Gillian, whose handicap was five, returned a gross 76 when the standard scratch for the day was 73. Well done Gillian. Her excellent performance helped the Bedale A team to finish third out of 17 teams.

Seniors

Another Friday morning Stableford resulted in Ron Blenkinsop winning with 38 points playing to a handicap of 19.

Juniors - John Carr Trophy

This bogey competition was won by James Edmondson who returned an excellent score of +7 which resulted in his handicap being reduced from 22 to 19.5. Keep it up James.
