A NETWORK aimed at bringing the world into the region's schools has been launched.
The One World Network North-East was launched at a civic reception held by Newcastle's Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor John and Audrey Marshall, in Jesmond, on Tuesday.
Funded by the Department for International Development, it will support teachers in bringing a global dimension to the classroom.
The network will also provide training and information for teachers through existing organisations and overseas links.
A spokeswoman for One World Network said: "Fulfilling the entitlement of young people in the region to global education, and empowering them to act as responsible global citizens able and committed to shaping the world of the future, are the goals of the organisation."
