A 22-YEAR-OLD man suffered fatal multiple injuries in a car accident, an opening inquest heard.
Andrew James Doyle, of South View, Hunwick, near Bishop Auckland, died after he was involved in a head-on crash between a Peugeot 306 car and Volkswagen Golf on Christmas Eve, on the B6275 Barton to Piercebridge Road. The driver of the Golf also suffered serious injuries.
Mr Doyle, an engineer, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Yesterday, a consultant pathologist from the hospital, Dr Ceri Williams, told South Durham Coroner Colin Penna that Mr Doyle sustained multiple traumatic injuries, including a head injury.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
