PEOPLE in Darlington borough are being urged to make a New Year's resolution to support recycling efforts.

Darlington Borough Council officials are urging people to think more about the environment - starting with recycling Christmas trees.

Council staff will be collecting trees from several sites in the borough from next Monday to Friday, January 17.

Darlington residents can leave trees at South Park's Bedford Street entrance; the council nursery in Salutation Road; B & Q in Whessoe Road; the civic amenity site in Whessoe Road; Gardeners' Barn, in Albert Road; the Homebase store, in North Road; Sugar Hill Park's Prior Street entrance and Eastbourne Park's Rockwell Pastures.

They can also be left at Water Park, Middleton St George; Heighington Village Hall car park and Hurworth Grange Community Centre.

For further information about the recycling scheme, contact the council's public protection services department on (01325) 388582.
