DURHAM Rotary Club's Santa sleigh rides round the district proved a great success.
Youngsters flocked to meet Father Christmas as he made visits to estates and villages in the run-up to Christmas.
The club collected £2,860 which will be distributed to local charities in the coming months.
Frank Davison, the club's community services chairman, said: "It was a great success. Everybody had read about it in the paper and turned out.
"Unfortunately, because of the weather, we missed some streets.
"We had a good time and there was a super turn-out.''
This year Santa was in a new sleigh, bought by the club to replace the old one after many years service.
