The winning design for a Ferryhill jubilee fountain will be selected at a meeting of the town council's civic amenities committee, in the town hall, on Wednesday, January 8, starting at 7pm.

The competition entries are on display in the town hall.

EXTRA PATROLS: Police patrols are to be increased in the Church Road area of Trimdon Village, in an effort to reduce anti-social behaviour by youngsters.

TAPES STOLEN: A black vinyl cassette case containing 12 tapes was stolen from a grey Peugeot 205 in Skipton Close, Ferryhill, between 5.15pm and 7pm on Sunday.

ALCOHOL THEFT: The Royal British Legion Club in Linden Terrace, Ferryhill Station, was raided at 6.30pm on Sunday, and £55 worth of alcohol stolen.

INTERNET COURSE: A basic five-week Internet course will start at Longfield Comprehensive School, Darlington, on Tuesday, January 14, from 7pm to 9pm. Enrolment will be on Thursday, January 9, at the school, from 7pm to 8pm.

DRIVING COURSE: A free drivers' theory course is starting in the Cockerton and Branksome areas of Darlington, run by community group Cable and local driving instructors. The course is available to drivers and non-drivers and starts on Thursday, January 9.

FAMILY EVENT: Willington FC are holding a family evening in the social club tonight at 7.30pm. Admission is free.

HISTORY GROUP: Bill Norman will give a talk called Luftwaffe over the North at Sedgefield Family History Group's next meeting, in Ceddesfeld Hall, Sedgefield, on Monday, January 20, at 7.45pm.
