Legendary 1960s psychedelic rock guitarist Arthur Lee and his band, Love, return to the North-East later this month.

The band played to a sell-out audience at the Newcastle Opera House in August and are returning to the venue on Tuesday, January 28. Doors open at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £14.50 and £16.50 and are available from the box office on 0191-232 0899.

HAULl RECOVERED: Police have recovered thousands of pounds worth of property, including a laptop computer and a collection of coins, as well as drugs, from a house in Mostyn Green, Kenton, in Newcastle. Michael John Rose, 21, of Mostyn Green, and Leanne Little, 19, also of Mostyn Green, were yesterday charged with burglary and will appear in court on January 9. A third person was released on police bail.SWING NIGHT: Popular swing and rhythm and blues band Alive and Kicking will be performing tomorrow night at the Wooden Doll pub, Hudson Street, North Shields, starting at 8pm. PHONE PLANS: T-Mobile UK is seeking permission for additional equipment to be sited with the 30-metre mast at the Broken Scar treatment works, in Darlington. The borough council is expected to give its approval at a meeting on Wednesday.

TRAFFIC ROLE: Malcolm Bingham has been appointed regional policy manager and manager of highways, traffic and urban access in the Freight Transport Association's northern office. He previously worked for British Rail and served in the Royal Navy for 23 years.

BED RACE: The annual charity bed race in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, will take place on June 14. Up to 40 decorated beds will be pushed through the town, before attempting to cross the River Nidd.

WATER TOTAL : Staff from Yorkshire Water who took part in the Six Peaks Challenge - scaling the country's six highest peaks in a trace against the clock - raised more than £10,000 for Water Aid, which helps provide clean water to some of the world's poorest countries.

CHARITY COMMUTE: Store boss Darren Scott, deputy manager of Matalan at Clifton Moor, York, will be leaving his car at home on Monday to commute to work by pushbike - 50 miles all the way from Scunthorpe. He is raising funds for St Leonard's Hospice, in York.

LACE EXHIBITION: A lace-making show is to be held at Pavilions of Harrogate, on the Great Yorkshire Showground, on March 29.
