Rohm and Haas JOC Hetton Youth League

Two sides were schedule to play the semi-final fixtures for the Durham County Youth Cup but the weather was responsible for Herrington's tie with Consett being called off.

The Lumley game with Redheugh though, went ahead but it was the latter who narrowly won the game with the winning goal arriving shortly before the final whistle.

Lumley made an early impression and went ahead when Michael Collins found the net. This was the only goal of the first period and after the interval Redheugh exerted pressure. Their reward came when they were rewarded a penalty and Stephen Brown scored from the spot.

Both sides then looked for a winner and this arrived for Redheugh. With only minutes remaining Stephen Small became the hero of the hour when he was on hand to force the ball home.

Blackfyne

Blackfyne Under-14s were in action at the weekend, taking part in Durham's National Association Clubs for Young People's five-a-side competition at Bell Vue leisure centre Consett.

They finished top of their group beating Aukland 3-0, Consett 3-0, Redheugh 1-0 and Clevland Hall 1-0. in the semis they Defeated Stanley 1-0 to progress to the final against Blaydon Youth Club, last year's winners.

The final was a great game with Blackfyne having most of the game, and having a goal disallowed before eventually losing in extra time 2-0. Still Blackfyne's performance on the day won them a lot of admirers playing by far the better football out of all the teams involved.

Richmond Town

After an extended Christmas break due to the weather only one match survived this weekend, writes Ben Prosser. Richmond Town Under-14s had an easy match against North Ormesby to continue where they left off before Christmas with their winning ways.

The match was slow at first with Richmond scoring through a lovely goal by Josh Wooff who put the ball into the top right corner of the goal. The score at half time was 1-0.

With the wind becoming stronger the second half was more exciting. Josh Wooff scored again just into the second half. Then Kalumn Holbrook scored twice and Nathan Fisher scored once. North Ormesby got one back.

The final score was 5-1 to Richmond Town. This should keep them at the top of the division.

The remainder of Saturday's league programme was wiped out due to the weather.
