South Bank Utd 1 v 5 St. Mary's College OB: Three league games defied the elements although it needed a switch of venue for the South Bank, St. Mary's College game to go ahead.

The College moved to within two points of Thornaby Mandale at the top of the table with a convincing win that took off when Paul Pearson headed home in the 15th. minute. Glenn Bennett added a second before Phil Bellamy added a third with five minutes of the first half remaining. United got some reward for their efforts when Tony Leach reduced the arrears on half time. The College continued to have the better of the exchanges in the second half and wrapped up the points with a 25 yarder from Dave Watson and an overhead kick from Dave Aspery.

B & H King's Head 12 v 0 Black Horse

Four goals from King's Head man of the match Brian Crawley led the goal scoring as Black Horse suffered another heavy defeat.

Gary Round made his contribution with a well taken hat-trick while substitute John Bell wasted no time when he found the net twice.

Another substitute, Paul Round Snr. Made his mark while Lee Johnson and Darren Telford also got their name on the score sheet.

M'brough PO 3 v 1 The Grenadier

Four goals in the space of ten minutes midway through the first half settled this game with the Post Office lifting themselves above the Grenadier as a result. Both sides had their chances in the opening twenty minutes but it was the Grenadier who drew first blood when Andy Fixter headed home following a breakaway. Within a minute, Post Office were back on level terms Stewart Rose headed home following good work from Paul Davies and John Leach. Pinchbeck and Rose then combined to set up Davies and following a succession of passes, Post Office made it 3-1 when Davies timed his run to perfection to get on the end of a pinpoint pass from David Mills. The Grenadier had their chances going closest with a shot against the post but it was their keeper Craig Leach who caught the eye with an outstanding display in goal.

North Riding Challenge Cup, rd. four

Tees. Link 0 v 3 Thornaby Mandale

With the exception of the Redcar Coke Ovens tie which fell foul of the weather, it was success all the way for the other Stokesley League sides involved in the North Riding Challenge Cup. Thornaby Mandale benefited from their tie being switched to their own ground but they were rarely troubled by Teesside Link once Andrew Dyson hit the goal trail on twenty minutes. Dyson hit the first goal of his hat-trick when he reacted quickly to a partially saved corner to slot the ball home from six yards out and ten minutes later he made it 2-0. Picking the ball up thirty yards out, Dyson beat beat two defenders before lifting the ball over the Teesside Link keeper. With Mandale in complete control, Dyson booked his sides quarter final place when he was put through before beating the keeper from ten yards out.

Carperby Rov. 2 v 3 Woodman's Arms

A battling performance from Woodman's Arms earned them a quarter final spot with Chris Mothersill sending them on their way from a breakaway on 25 minutes. Carperby replied ten minutes later but by half time the Woodman's advantage had been restored after Steve Marshall headed home from Steve Sheridan's corner. In the second half, Woodman's continued to give as good as they got but 15 minutes from time Carperby got back on level terms once again with a volley from the edge of the area. Mothersill and Sheridan both went close but with ten minutes left on the clock , Sheridan volleyed home the winner although it needed a headed clearance from Gary Campbell in the dying seconds of the game to preserve their lead.

Huby Ltd. 1 v 5 Ennis Square (aet)

In the quarter finals, Woodmans will meet fellow Stokesley League side Ennis Square after they returned from York with a win over Huby Ltd. Richard Mason gave Ennis a half time lead when he latched onto a poor goal kick and returned it with interest from twenty five yards out but the game went to extra time following Huby's equaliser on the hour. Jonathan Kirk put Ennis back in front from the penalty spot early in the first period of extra time and Ennis took control of the game when Paul Dodkins smashed the ball home with a thirty yard free kick. Stewart Clarke fired home from ten yards out before Wayne Gent got on the end of a cross from Stephen Gent for goal number five.
