PEOPLE who enjoy a good read are being offered a chance to join in a monthly series of discussion sessions at Bishop Auckland Town Hall.

Called The Write Read, the meetings are led by County Durham author and writing tutor Elizabeth Hankin on the first Thursday of each month.

She starts a new season next Thursday, with and examination of Michael Cunningham's Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Hours, which is now a Golden Globe winning film starring Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woolf.

Alan Garner's The Owl Service is the topic on March 6 and A S Byatt's Possession on April 3. Call (01388) 602610, ww.durham.gov/bishopaucklandtownhall for details.
