On Saturday the club competed at the North of England Cross Country Championships held at Heaton Park Manchester, although there were no medals won there were some outstanding performances from some young athletes tasting their first North of England Championships.

The Under-13 girls all had excellent runs over the very undulating and windy 3k course, Ahby Suffield was first back in 18th place, with teammates Amy Bunning 104th and Natasha Heslop 110th,. In the Under-15 Girls there was another good performance came from Abigail Wilson went she finished 34th, the winner was M Ferrier of Gateshead Harriers.

Natalie Owens had a much improved run to finish in second place, the winner being K Hawilt of Warrington AC.

In the Under-13 Boys event Khalil Thompson showed he was coming back to his best when he finished 11th, having their first run in a major championship. Andrew Cummings was 60th with club mate Simon Hewitson 75th.

The Under-15 Boys finished 16th team overall with Warren Roberts in 42nd, an excellent run from Matthew Hewitson in 102nd place, Anthony Brown 118th and Jalal Thompson 153rd.

Matthew Lomax always keeps the best performances for championships when he had an excellent run to finish 18th in the Under-17 Men event, the winner was A Moran of Trafford AC. In the Junior Men's event Paul Best had a good run to finish 27th place with club mate Stephen Brown having a much-improved run to finish 60th.

Finally, in the Senior Mens event over 12k, Chris Griffiths had a good run to finish in 375th place, with newcomers David Anderson 561st and John Gibson 673rd.
