FERRYHILL Town Band are celebrating winning promotion in an annual contest.
The band competed at the Durham County Brass Band Association contest at Spennymoor Leisure Centre.
Ferryhill won first prize in the third section, beating several other bands from County Durham.
Conductor Tom Maddison collected The Northern Echo Cup and the £150 first prize.
Mr Maddison was also awarded the George Rowell Memorial Trophy as the winning conductor.
Ferryhill's Eric Schlosser, Ian Wilson, Brian Chaplin and Jonathan Wallace were awarded the Alan Hutchinson Memorial Trophy for best bass section.
Ferryhill's reward for topping the section is promotion to section two for next year.
