A group for former members of St John Ambulance is being set up.
The St John Fellowship helps people who used to be involved in the charity stay in touch with each other.
It also helps former members in need and provides support for working St John Ambulance volunteers.
Next year, the charity will celebrate 90 years in Darlington and it is hoped a fellowship will be up and running for the area by then.
Bob Kennedy, of St John Ambulance in Darlington, said: "The fellowship will be open to anyone who has worked with St John Ambulance - it doesn't matter why you left you can still be in the fellowship.
"It is less formal that the St John Ambulance and the emphasis will be on having fun.
"We will also support the St John volunteers.
"For instance, at the Darlington Dog Show we will make cups of tea for the volunteers."
