RESIDENTS in Darlington are being offered the chance to plant free trees and shrubs in their neighbourhoods.
Now in its fourth year, Darlington Borough Council's free trees scheme has already given away nearly 5,000 trees and shrubs.
Stephen Harker, the Council's Cabinet Member for Community Protection, said: "It will really help local people continue to enhance the look of Darlington's streets and gardens and at the same time help protect our environment and wildlife."
Applications must be returned by the last weekend in February and the trees and shrubs will be available in March.
Individuals can apply for ten trees but groups can apply for more.
For further details and an application form, contact the organisers on (01325) 388 582.
