FAMILY and friends are trying to trace a man thought to have moved to the Durham area after leaving his pet shop in Bristol at short notice last month.

ROAD ACCIDENT: The female passenger of a Ford Fiesta was taken to hospital with back injuries after the car collided with a cyclist near Asda, in Surtees Road, Peterlee, at 11am yesterday. The male driver, from Shotton, was treated for cuts, and the cyclist, a man from Peterlee, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

STAFF HELP: Staff at a supermarket have raised £1,000 to help provide treatment for a ten-year-old boy with cerebral palsy. The money raised by staff at Easington Co-op is to go to the Anthony Hunt Medical Treatment Fund to help pay for Anthony's treatment at the Lee Sykes Centre, in Sunderland.

YOUTH MAGAZINE: Youth support group Connexions is looking for youngsters to help produce a magazine for young people. A free training session will be held on Tuesday, from 6pm to 8pm, in the village hall, Delves Lane, near Consett. To take part, call (01207) 583174.

HOME DAMAGED: A garage and bedroom of a house in Chillingham Drive, Chester-le-Street, were severely damaged by fire. Firefighters were called to the detached house at about 4pm on Tuesday.

HEALING SESSION: The National Federation of Spiritual Healers will hold a healing session at Shakespeare Hall, in North Road, Durham, on Saturday, from 1.30pm to 4pm.

FABRIC SALE: A fabric sale will be held on Tuesday, at Elvet Methodist Church, Old Elvet, Durham. Proceeds will go to St Cuthbert's Hospice minibus appeal.
