EASINGTON District Council is likely to announce a three per cent rise in council tax.
It means that residents in Band A properties will pay an extra 25p per month, or £3.03 a year, taking their annual council bill to £103.80.
Those with band D properties will see their bills rise to £155.70, an increase of £4.55.
Over the past few years, the council has improved services such as litter collection and grass-cutting with the help of Government funding such as the neighbourhood renewal initiative and neighbourhood pathfinder scheme.
The extra council tax income will be used to ensure that the improvements continue once the funding runs out.
A spokesman said: "Despite being faced with increased costs higher than inflation, the council is pleased that it has been able to hold the increase at about the inflation rate, particularly in an area where there are a lot of people on low incomes."
The final rise will be agreed by councillors next month after increases from the county council, police and parish councils have been agreed.
