A WASTE management company is going greener by using more fish-and-chip power to keep its fleet on the road.
Northallerton company Yorwaste, North Yorkshire, is using bio-diesel, an alternative fuel made of recycled vegetable oil.
The oil, used in food processing factories and in fish and chip shops, is injected into the fuel tanks of the firm's 20 heavy goods vehicles.
If the trial proves successful, the plan is to step up the amount of fish and chip oil used for all the fleet vehicles.
Sales and marketing manager Tim Reay said: "We have already made fuel savings of two per cent across the whole fleet."
