A household waste recycling centre has opened in Hartlepool.
The Burn Road centre, run by Hartlepool Borough Council, will be able to recycle paper, cardboard, soil and rubble, wood, glass, garden waste, newspapers and magazines, scrap metal and textiles, clothing and shoes, batteries, oil and books.
Waste manager Denise Ogden said: "This centre is much more than just a tip. It is part of our on-going drive to increase recycling and will complement other schemes, such as doorstep waste paper collections and the Blue Box recycling scheme."
The centre will be paid for through the National Waste Minimisation Fund and is open 362 days a year.
