Darlington Mowden Park provided more emphatic evidence that they have left the stragglers in National Three North way behind.

The winning run which has dispelled any lingering fears of relegation was extended to six games, and if they keep this up they could finish as high as fourth by winning their two games against Halifax.

A powerful performance by the back row of Vaha Faleovalu, who scored two tries, skipper Aaron Redaelli and Tony Irwin will make it difficult to slot in Soa Otuvaka when he is fit.

But the other recruit from Newcastle, academy boy Nick Wainwright, has completed the jigsaw by bringing some creative class to the midfield. Full back Iain Dixon twice romped over from 30 metres as Mowden scored four tries in each half, with Mark Bedworth adding five conversions and two penalties.

Apart from ten minutes at the start of the second half, they were always in control as they followed up their 60-0 win at Scunthorpe with another fluent display.

Irwin set the tone by catching the kick-off and breaking two tackles, and a minute later hooker Chris Strong was driven over.

Then Radaelli picked up off the back of a scrum and Richard Holbrough and Dixon both handled before Radaelli looped round and galloped 25 metres to the right corner.

After a ten-minute lull, Bedworth kicked a penalty then Wainwright broke and three phases later Dixon found himself at stand off with only one man outside him.

But he simply ran round his marker and went under the posts.

Vaha nipped over from a ruck in the right corner to make it 27-0 at half-time, and after Broadstreet's pressure was relieved by a penalty another was awarded 30 metres out and Bedworth got the score moving again.

He then made a break and passed inside to Wainwright, who stepped off his right foot three times to leave tacklers stranded for his second try in just two games.

Bedworth again showed how he has grown into the fly half's role with a nicely delayed short pass which allowed Dixon to burst straight through the middle to the posts.

James Tyrrell, switched from wing to centre for the last 15 minutes, had the pace to ignore an overlap as he raced over for the seventh try and finally Vaha finished off a line-out drive with help from Redaelli.

* Barnard Castle booked their date at Twickenham when they beat St Peter's, Gloucester, 27-11 in the semi-final of the National Schools Cup at Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, on Saturday.

They will face Oakham School in the final hoping to complete their season unbeaten with 21 wins.

Winger Matthew Brown scored one of the four tries and added a penalty and two conversions, while centre Matthew Tait relieved pressure with a crucial interception try when he ran almost the length of the field.

Full back James Hamer and hooker James Tait also touched down, while scrum half and skipper Lee Dickson led by example No 8 George Carpenter's excellent performance was ended by injury, but he is expected to be fit for the final.

Coach Martin Pepper said: "There were no real stars, it was a fantastic all-round performance."

Result: Darlington Mowden Park 56 Broadstreet 0.
