POLICE forced a radio presenter to abandon a publicity stunt at a busy North-East roundabout yesterday because it was distracting drivers.

Rush-hour motorists approaching the roundabout at Morton Park, Darlington, found TFM breakfast show host Mini Mojo - real name Alan Geddes - strapped halfway up a lamp-post and clutching a loudhailer.

The show's director, Colin Paterson, said the stunt was purely to publicise the breakfast show.

"We have done one in Hartlepool and in Stockton," he said. "Someone in Darlington called to say that they did not believe he would do it in Darlington, so we did.

"People were coming up and throwing eggs and things at him."

Mini Mojo, who had ferrets stuffed down his trousers during a previous stunt, managed to remain up the lamp-post for about an hour, until shortly after 8.30am.

"The police had to remove him. They said he was creating a disturbance," said Mr Paterson.
