ANNUAL MEETING: At the annual meeting of the Crook Community Partnership Peggy Manuel was elected chairman, but the positions of secretary and treasurer remain unfilled.

The partnership office in 79 Hope Street is advertising daily job vacancies or training opportunities that are available.

It is hoped that a job hot desk will soon be set up.

PROGRAMME PLEA: Brian Keating, Crook Town AFC's centre forward in the 1959 FA Amateur Cup Final win over Barnet, would like to obtain a copy of the match programme.

Mr Keating, who now lives in Sydney, Australia, has been in touch with Michael Manuel, co-author of the book on Crook Football Club. Mr Manuel can be contacted on (01388) 762683.

WORLD BOOK DAY: Peases West Primary School, Crook, celebrated World Book Day by staff and children dressing up as characters from books.

CONCERT: Crook Methodist Church is hosting a concert by Stanhope Choral on Saturday, at 7pm. Tickets are available from church members.

SING-A-LONG: Parklands Residential Home, Crook, is inviting everyone to dance, listen or sing-a-long to Danny who will perform Rock 'n' Roll, ballads, pop, country and old-time songs next Monday, from 1.30pm.

ANNUAL MEETING: Howden-le-Wear Community Association holds its annual meeting on Thursday, at 7.30pm, in the Community Centre.

CHORAL CONCERT: Crook and Weardale Choral Singers will perform Stainer's Crucifixion at Stanley Chapel, Crook, tonight, at 7.30pm. Tomorrow they will perform Lenten music at Cockton Hill Church, Bishop Auckland at 7.30pm.

HISTORY SOCIETY: Howden-le-Wear Local History Society holds its annual meeting next Tuesday, at 7pm, in the community centre.
