Coxhoe Boys: The Under-14s continued their march towards the title with another convincing win, this time a 5-0 victory over Jarrow Boys Club.

Michael Owen (3), Ben Raine and Jamie Lawson got the goals which put Coxhoe in good shape for tonight's game which is being played at Willington's ground.

Coxhoe occcasionally stage matches at the Northern League clubs' ground, and tonight sees Felling Magpies take on Coxhoe in the Invitation Cup.

Bobby Orton's side are expecting a tough game having drawn with Felling in a pre-season friendly.

Brompton Juniors: The Under-14s were away at Dormans in the TJA Division Four on Sunday and came away with all three points after a hard-fought victory. John Henry opened the scoring ten minutes into the match with a cool finish past the advancing keeper.

Both defences dominated the game, so chances were at a premium but Dormans equalised at the start of the second half with the visitors' defence appealing for offside.

Scott Goodrum regained Brompton's lead with an excellent shot from 35m and then Andrew Wilson prevented a second equaliser with a brilliant save. Daniel Thornborough sealed the win when he scored after a goalmouth scramble. Dean Catchpole and William Bunn were joint men of the match.

A warm afternoon and an excellent pitch set the scene for the four matches between Thirsk and Brompton's Under-9s.

Brompton B played Thirsk B in a very entertaining game with both sides attempting to play good football in an end to end match. The game ended 2-2 with Brompton goals from James Pugh, who got on the end of a George Austic shot, and Austic scored near to the end of the game with a blistering long range effort to earn Brompton a well deserved draw.

Brompton A played Thirsk A in an evenly fought match. Thirsk took the lead but after this Brompton pushed forward and Robert Maclean scored to even the scores. Both sides had chances to win the game and it was Thirsk who scored near to the end to win 2-1.

Brompton A played Thirsk B in a game that they totally dominated. Chris Holmes was particularly outstanding for Brompton, scoring two goals in the first half. Several chances went begging for Brompton, including a missed penalty. The second half saw Brompton passing the ball around well but Thirsk never gave up competing until Brompton's final goal came from a Mark Watkinson corner which went to Chris Holmes who grabbed his hat-trick with a typically clinical finish to win 3-0.

The very young Brompton B side took on Thirsk A in a difficult game for them. The young Brompton defence was exposed by the greater experienced Thirsk team who went in at half time 5-0 up. The second half continued much like the first however, Brompton kept trying to play football against the odds. Thirsk scored a further four goals, to their credit Brompton still competed and George Austic scored near to the end to finish the game 9-1 to Thirsk.

Norton and Stockton Ancients: After an intense first half, Norton Under-8s finally took the lead in the second half against Mount Pleasant Rangers when a Patrick Nelson through-ball was taken around the keeper by Josh McDonald to open the scoring. Norton had a few good chances and finally doubled their lead when David Roth took on a player to strike a volley from the edge of the box.

The Under-10 A team started slowly against a very strong Billingham Town Boys team. A bumpy pitch made life difficult for both teams and neither team could get control of the ball. The game improved after the break although the final score was 0-0. Both Robson and Vaulks had chances and Curnow was excellent at the back for Norton.

Congratulations go to the Norton Under-10 B side who finished the league in third position with a 1-0 win over Hartburn Juniors which, for an Under-9 side, was an excellent season. Norton put on early pressure against Hartburn, creating many good chances. Good tackling in midfield from Simcox and M Johnson broke-up Hartburn's advances to go 0-0 at half-time. Norton maintained the pressure in the second half and the game was won by a cracking strike from Mohun. Thomas was superb in defence and T Johnson made a last minute save to deny Hartburn the equaliser.

In a cracking top of the table clash, Marton FC Under-11s took the lead within a minute with a 25-yard free kick. Norton were slow to recover and conceded again within minutes, to go 2-0 down. Norton fought back with Laverick scoring before half-time with a well taken goal. Norton took control in the second half and Smith equalised with a great 30-yard strike and then Lambert was unlucky with a penalty that bounced off the post. Norton were unlucky not claim all the points with the final score being 2-2.

North Ormesby Under-12s started off strongly putting Norton under immense pressure, keeper Rob Cotts pulling off several good saves before D Riley scored for North Ormesby to make it 1-0 at half-time. North Ormesby doubled their lead two minutes into the second half before Norton took control, putting pressure on the North Ormesby keeper and Andy Bennett scored with a bullet header from a corner. Despite continued pressure, Norton could not score the equaliser leaving the score 1-0.

Norton Under-12s lost 1-0 at home to Marton in a very evenly matched first half with neither side taking the initiative, the first half remained 0-0. For the second match in a row, Norton took control in the second half with constant pressure, but were unable to hit the back of the net. Then, with only two minutes to go, Marton broke away for Tony to score the winning goal.

The Under-13s enjoyed a 5-2 win over Newton Aycliffe. Three minutes in, Desnan curled the ball into the net straight from the corner flag and Williams made it 2-0 seven minutes later before Sweeney tucked in the third just before the break.

Aycliffe came back in the second half to score after five minutes but Norton continued to pile on the pressure and Nicholson scored on the volley. Aycliffe scored a second and were back in the game, but Sweeney wiped in at the back post for his second.

Norton Under-14 As were at home to Tennis World and it wasn't long before great goals from Chris Mannion and Shaun Toulson put Norton 2-0 up. Tennis World played some good football but Mannion scored again to make it 3-0. The shots kept coming in the second half but Norton failed to score. Tennis World scored through a penalty rebound to make the final score 3-1.

The Under-14 Bs settled for a 3-3 draw at home to Wheatley Hill in a hard-fought game. Carl Nugent scored two and Tom Sharp added one. It was the excellent saves of the keeper that kept Norton in the game. The referee did well to control the game as tempers were high.
