THE Under-12s continued with their unbeaten record in the league with an away win against Mount Pleasant Rangers with a scoreline of 8-1, writes BEN PROSSER.

They continue to close in on the league title with this impressive victory taking their tally to 11 wins out of 11. Despite a load of chances to score, Richmond went in 1-0 at half time with a well-taken goal by B Whiteside and they dominated all the play in the first half. Following a tactical switch at half time Richmond turned on the style in the second half to record their second highest win of the season. Within five minutes of the restart B Whiteside recorded his hat-trick and there were further goals from B Holmes, C Swainston, J Lincoln and R Bastow who scored a fine double midway through the second half. A late consolation goal by the Rangers could not take the sheen off a well deserved win for Richmond in what was a highly entertaining match.

Richmond Under-15s lost 2-1 at home to Riverside Rovers. With an injury depleted squad, the team played well against a strong and impressive Rovers. It was an exciting game played in a manner that was a credit to both teams. A goal in each half from Rovers, Richmond scored in the second half through C Cox. B Tack, in goal for Richmond, pulled off excellent saves.

Richmond Under-14s played Whitby in a league match and won 2-0. This was the first meeting between these two teams in two years. The first half was a stalemate with Richmond having chances to go ahead but failing to convert them. In the second half Richmond went ahead when a lovely ball from K Watt in defence found J Flannery who finished the move coolly. Whitby created chances but lacked the penetration to put a shot past Richmond's defence. Whitby's defence lost concentration and Richmond scored a second goal through J Flannery, giving Richmond a comfortable win.

Richmond Under-13s drew away to Nunthorpe Athletic who are top of the division. This was a match where defences were firmly on top and in an even first half there were few chances. Early on the Nunthorpe keeper produced an excellent save to deny T Stanwix while, towards the end of the half, Nunthorpe missed a chance to take the lead shooting wide with only the keeper to beat. In the second half Richmond had more of the play in midfield but created few clear cut chances. S Pritchard volleyed the best chance over the bar. The Nunthorpe keeper produced two good saves from long range G Love efforts. Nunthorpe almost won the points in the last minute when they raced through with only the keeper to beat but D Hodgson produced a fine save.

Richmond Under-11s were home to Bedale and drew 1-1. In a match between the two top teams Richmond became the first team to take points off Bedale in an end to end game although Bedale dominated the first half but against the run of play Richmond took the lead with 15 minutes on the clock when, under pressure, a Bedale player put through his own goal. In the second half Richmond came more into the game but were unable to add further goals to their score. Bedale equalised when their persistant pressure was rewarded with a goal. Richmond pushed forward for a goal and in the last minute Z Jackson had a goal bound header cleared from the line. Man of match was M Snape who had an outstanding game at centre half.

Richmond Under-9s were away to Total Soccer Centre and played two matches. They lost both games but the team, playing the second match, worked really hard and there was an impressive performance in goal by T Holmes. Man of the match in the first game was goalie R Cracklin and in the second game T Holmes.
