Darlington Albion: Last weekend saw the Under-9s at home to Richmond Town and in a much improved performance on the previous week, Albion lost 3-2 in their first game. Chances were made at both ends but Richmond sneaked the victory by one goal with Albion's scorer being D Longstaff (2).

In the second game the Albion played some excellent football to dominate the game, finally winning 7-0 with Richmond not managing a shot on goal. Scorers were D Longstaff (2), J Peart (2), J Carr, L Greenwell and J Scarr.

This weekend the Under-9s were again at home and played Barnard Castle in a series of four games. All four were very close and could have been won by either team.

Results: Game 1 - Albion lost 2-0. Game 2 - Albion won 3-0 (scorers J Carr (2) J Scarr). Game 3 - drew 1-1 (scorer D Longstaff). Game 4 - won 2-0 (scorers J Peart and J Scarr).

The Albion Under-12s were away to Great Ayton Albion Under-12s and played some outstanding football to finish winning 5-2. Scorers Phil Caley (2), Theo Farquharson, Chris Farlow and one own goal. Man of the match was Theo Farquharson.

Albion Under-15s faced Bedale Under-16s for the fourth time this season and Albion managed to throw away a chance to win again, despite taking the lead. Albion opened the scoring with a great header by Tommy Langley and the other was an excellent looping shot from Mark Hodges to put Albion 2-0 up. But due to some poor defending and a sleeping midfield, Albion went on to lose 8-3. Adam Kappel scoring the third in the second half.

Man of the match went to Jason Pritchard in goal for pulling of some great saves yet again to keep the score line down.

Willington Boys: THE Under-14s drew 2-2 with Washington Dunlop in the Russell Foster junior football league. Willington led 1-0 at half time, but trailed 2-1 in the second half before levelling. Harry Drummond and Gareth Walker got the goals, and Joe Fairish was again Willington man of the match.

Auckland and District EBAC Youth League

Bishop Auckland under-18s won 5-0 away to Newton Aycliffe juniors. Dale Dunn scored twice in the first half hour to give Bishops a 2-0 half time lead. Lee Atkinson and Gary Whittaker (2) scored in the second half. Dean Maddison was Bishops' man of the match.

Willington beat visitors Coundon & Leeholme 2-0 with goals from Martin Hops and John Nugent. Spennymoor Legion drew 0-0 at home to Barnard Castle.

Newton Aycliffe Youth: Playing at home to Ferryhill, Aycliffe Under-11s started slowly and paid the price in the first half when conceding an early goal.

But gradually Aycliffe increased the pressure on the visitors, and midway through the first half James Robinson scored the equaliser.

Aycliffe were now in the driving seat and Ferryhill, while battling hard, were finding it difficult to deal with Aycliffe's passing game and shortly before half time Aycliffe scored a second through Ethan Graham.

The second half started as the first ended with the Youth centre on top and it was only a matter of time before the lead was increased and further goals from Ethan Graham and Hayden Gill sealed the game, 4-1. Man of match was Ethan Graham.

Bishop Auckland College: Bishop College Under-17s played Birtley Town Juniors at home on Sunday and took an early lead through Adam Barrett before Jonathon Robinson added a second.

Birtley got back into the game with two quick goals, but ten minutes from half-time Karl Thompson scored the first of two spectacular goals.

The first was struck on the byline from 25-yards out, and then second was a fine solo effort, beating three defenders and slotting the ball into the top right hand corner.

In the second period Birtley got a third but Bishop held on strongly for a well-deserved win.

Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers

THE Under-12s A, sponsored by Weathertight Windows, played away in the league against Cleveland Juniors and it was all Rangers for most of the game but it was lost when a penalty was conceded by Rangers. The final score ended 2-1 to Cleveland with Rangers' scorer being Mikey Smith and man of the match going to Ryan Ashton.

The Under-12s B, sponsored by Magnet Ltd, played against Richmond Town and were beaten 8-1 by a very strong side. Rangers piled on the pressure but could not break them down. Rangers scorer was Tom Helibron and man of the match went to Mick Able.

The Under-11s A, sponsored by MKM (Darlington), were away in the league on Saturday against midtable Trimdon. Rangers needed a victory if they wanted to keep up the pressure to finish league champions but they started slowly, conceding an early goal but came back with a vengeance to win 5-2. Rangers scorers were David Johnston (2), Tom Hutchinson, Ayden Carrick and man of the match was Johnny 'Bravo' Blewitt.

They also played in the league on Sunday at TIBS FC. Again, Rangers needed the victory and the points in the bag and this time they started strong on a small pitch, adapting to that well. They scored an early goal and looked to want some more. A few changes at half time saw Mike Gillender come on and grab a hat-trick, one from a superb cross from Matthew York. The final score ended 5-1. Other scorers were Johnny 'Bravo' Blewitt and Joe Clare with Gillender named man of the match.

The Under-10s, sponsored by Mill VW (Faverdale), played at home in a friendly against Stockton West End. It was a good, competitive game with Rangers having a lot of possesion but the final score ended 2-1 to Stockton. Rangers scorer was and man of the match went to Ashleigh Leighton for another outstanding performance.

A further game that followed saw Rangers play with the same determination which grabbed them the 1-0 victory that they deserved. Rangers scorer was Matthew Able and he was also man of the match.

The Under-9s A, sponsored by SG Petch were away in the league against Cleveland Juniors. This was a good game of football with an excellent display from both teams. The Rangers defence worked hard with Shane Hall clearing off the line but the score ended 2-0 to Cleveland. Rangers man of the match was Beej Turnbull, for an excellent double save.

The B team played a friendly against the same team which again saw some excellent football being played, final score was 3-0. Rangers man of the match was Lewis Myers.

The Under-8s, sponsored by Dutton Forshaw (Stockton) played at home against Norton & Stockton in the league. Rangers worked hard but could not break down Norton's strength. Final score was 2-0 to the away team. Rangers man of the match was Jim Wilson. A friendly that followed ended 4-0 to Norton & Stockton with man of the match going to Katy Bass.
