Elswick competed in the final Durham Pine North-Eastern Harrier League on Saturday at the difficult Prudhoe course. The team finished the fixture's nine races in the senior men's event with Tony Hail first counter in 37th place in 34.05.
The improving David Gerrard was 64th in 34.47, Steve Bell finished 74th in 35.03 with Norman Armstrong 89th in 35.19. H Matthews, running out of the fast pack, was 120th in 36.19 with Jim Bell 131st in 36.41, Steve Long, who travelled to compete for Elswick, was in 147th place in 37.07. J Nutt finished in 85th in the senior ladies with Kim Davison 13th in 23.16. Sam Crowe had a fast run to gain second spot in the U17 ladies even in 17.34. In the U15 girls race Kate White was tenth in 14.42 with Lesley Long 17th in 18.24.
