CHESTER Garden Farm's quest for a League and Cup double in their first season remain on course.

Clear at the top in the Championship race, the Farm lads are now through to the League Cup Final after a thrilling odd goal in five win against local rivals Pelton Fell WMC and at the same time ending their double hopes.

The Fell took and early lead with a goal from Andrew Cuthbertson which was cancelled out by Graham Cook.

Danny Bankhead restored the Fell's lead only for Andrew Robson to take it into extra time with the golden goal coming into operation and within five minutes, a second of the game for Cook settled the issue.

Garden Farm in the final will meet either Stanley FC or South Moor Sports.

In the League, Grange Villa were at home to Stanley FC and took a deserved lead with a goal through Marc Ward.

However it all went wrong for the Villa when Jon Hayley was sent off for the Villa after 25 minutes.

Stanley equalised before the break and then burst into a 3-1 lead before adding a fourth after the Villa had pulled back to 3-2 through Ian Pinchen.

The Stanley goals were netted by Graham Kendal, David Robson, Mark Pattison and Darren Smith.

Pelton Crown moved fourth after a 3-0 win over Low Fell Jolly Miller with two goals from Grant Nattrass and the other from Gary Dryden.

In the Richardson Cup, Stanley RAFA, needing to win to try and ensure an automatic final place, came unstuck against the Masons Arms SC when they were held 2-2.

The RAFA scored through Michael Lumsden and David Watson with Ty Swan and Colin Stobbart scoring for the Masons.

STATION Ex-Juniors have put the First Division title race firmly in the path of Stateside after toppling their nearest rivals AK Leisure.

Struggling for the safety in the top flight, the Juniors gained a shock 3-2 win to upset AKL who knew they would move to within one point of leaders Stateside if they had won this game in hand.

Just one goal was required from Graeme Carr of Annfield Plain Cricket Club to ensure their home win over the Highwayman.

They did so after Stu Kelly's hat-trick guided the village outfit to a 3-1 home win over Annfield Plain Demi.

A solitary Brett Hanratty goal saw Plainsman to a win over the Smelters to maintain their five-point lead over Dipton Bird in Division Three though the latter have three games in hand and courtesy of two Craig Tait goals beat Prince of Wales 4-2.

Scotch Arms maintained their climb away from the foot of the table with another 1-0 win - a James Platten penalty two minutes from time doing the damage at Medomsley Miners.

James Heron got two goals at the Poacher to earn Hat & Feather a 2-2 draw and that was the same scoreline at Delves where Board Inn were the visitors.

Towneley Arms blasted the Golden Lion 6-1 to reach the semi-final of the Stanley Aged Miners Cup. Paul Willary hit a hat-trick, there were two for Gary Clark and the other from Glenn Ferry with Dean Lishman replying.

Joining them are Stateside who toppled Durham & District side Witton Gilbert at home 3-2 with Kevin Eglon notching two of the goals and Andrew Elliott the other.

Davie Collins got the only goal as Consett Top Club edged out Division Two leaders Chopwell Hotel
