On Sunday, March 16 the final NYSD Cross Country was held at Richmond School. In excellent weather conditions Stephanie Millar was 29th out of 41 competitors in a time of 12:44 in the Under-13 Girls race 2.55K course.

In the Ladies race, Dawn Richardson not content with doing an 18 mile training session on the morning, also ran the 5K Cross Country course on the afternoon to finish first out of 37 runners in a time of 21:16 followed by Caroline Davies 14th 23:31, Julie Giblin 34th 29:05, and Beverley Snook 37th 30:48. The Ladies team finished sixth.

In the Mens race, Alasdair Tatham was first home as usual for the club to finish the 8.35K course ninth overall in 31:39, followed by Wayne Bramley 45th 35:13.

Graham Park, who ran 13 miles beforehand, finished 72nd in 37:56, Steve Snook 76th 38:17, Dave Giblin 80th 38:40, Paul Quinn 111th 46:56 and Harry Manuel 114th 47:59. The Men's team took second place in Division Two.

Overall results for the NYSD series saw the Under-13 Boys team take ninth team place, Under-13 Girls 11th, Under-15 Girls fifth, Under-17 Men third, Ladies fifth and Men second in Division Two.

On Saturday, March 22, a good turnout of Quakers ran at Coniston 14 mile road race. On a beautifully hot day Alasdair Tatham was first home for the club finishing third overall in a time of 1:18:14, followed by Ian Scott 8th 1:22:03, 2nd over 45 vet, Dawn Richardson, 59th, 3rd lady, 1:28:59, Nick Millar, 105th, 1:31:54, Phil Rutter, 282nd, 1:40:50, Graham Park, 339th, 1:42:48, John Edmondson, 401st, 1:44:35, Jes Smith, 438th, 1:45:50, Dave Mason, 716th, 1:54:44, John Bright, 956th, 2:03:06 and Ross Chisholm, 1335th, 2:20:58

The first of the Quakers Durham Fell Challenge Series will be held this Sunday, March 30. Doctors Gate Hill Race will be held in Hamsterley Forest. The race commences at 11am and covers 5.5 miles over 1102 feet of climbing. Registration/start is at the Grove Cark Park, all parking charges are included within the race entry fee. There is also a junior two-mile fell race starting at 10.30am.

The sixth and final North Yorkshire South Durham Cross Country fixture took place at Richmond on Sunday March 16.

With what proved to be a successful season for the senior men's team finishing top team in Division Two with 215 points, therefore finishing the season as Division Two champions. This with some of the club's top athletes out with injuries for most of the season.

RESULTS - Under-13 boys: Jamie Rutherford continues to impress finishing eighth in 10.44.

Under-13 girls: Emily Saxby 11th, 11.43, Lauren Peacock 17t, 11.57, Emma Clifford 21st 12.17. Sixth Team.

Under-17 men: Theo Panayi ninth, 29.29.

Senior men: Nigel Orr 14th, 232.06, Martin Grainger 16th, 32.30, Ben Wilson 23rd, 33.24, Ben Oakes 32nd, 34.28, Steve Hutchinson 52nd, 35.24, Paul Smith 38.25, Ian Barnes 84th, 39.41, Brian Hay 93rd, 40.49. First team 215 points. Martin Grainger finished as second male vet. Ian Barnes finishes first male vet 3.

Under-13 girls: seventh team.

Under-13 boys: eighth team.
