THOUSANDS of people are expected to try some of the best local produce when they visit a market town next month.
About 15,000 people were tempted by the taste of local produce at the Dales Festival of Food and Drink, in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, during last year's May Day bank holiday.
At this year's event, on May 3, 4 and 5, organisers are promising even more to see and eat, with the food hall marquee extended from 180ft to 250ft, accommodating more food producers and a bigger farmers' market.
"Virtually all last year's stands have been rebooked and others have joined them," said one of the organisers, Ann Hodgson.
There will also be vintage roundabouts, boat swings, a shooting gallery and a balloon race. Adding to the festive atmosphere will be a jazz band, Richmond Town Pipes and Drums and vintage barrel organs.
TV's Countdown presenter Richard Whiteley will be trying his hand at chocolate-making, and a farming display is also planned
