A CLUB in Hartlepool which involves organised activities for fathers and their children is proving a big success.
Sure Start (South) has launched the club, known as Saturday Stars, which operates each Saturday morning from the Sure Start centre in Rossmere Way.
The initiative was set up after one father moved into the area and felt there was insufficient activities for men to take part in with their children.
A variety of activities are held each week and at the end of every month, there is an outing. This weekend the group went to Whitby. Grandfathers and uncles have also started joining the club.
Avis Brough, of Sure Start (South), said: "Men in the area were saying that while there are lots of opportunities for mothers and children, there was nothing for men.
"As a consequence, we carried out some research and realised there was a demand."
